"Every One Remembered”

The Royal British Legion has launched a Campaign called “Every One Remembered”.  They are separate words and that is the essence of this poignant campaign. It is an initiative to ensure that all Commonwealth Service men or women who fell during World War One, including anyone who died from war related injuries up to two years after the conflict ended are remembered, as individuals and honoured.

Inspired by a 14 year old girl who was sad to see that although many war graves had crosses, poppies and flowers there were those who had no-one left to remember them.

Many of us know of relatives who served in World War One.  We should put their names forward. There are also those of us who know of people who died and have no known grave to which relatives can go to place a poppy or cross. I have with me today, the list from our Bell Ceremony on each Remembrance Day.  On this list, for example are several people with no known grave and one who was lost when his ship was sunk.

It would be so fitting, that as Branch members we put forward these names and any others we may know about to the website

If you visit the Legion Website you can follow the link to add people. Choose to commemorate someone you know - a relative or person randomly selected for you.
