90TH ANNIVERSARY ACTIV ITIES
On Saturday 9th October the Chairman’s Special Effort was launched against incredible odds in the gardens of the El Palomar Hotel. 54 people enjoyed a full English breakfast prepared by 8 willing helpers and the Chairman. Bacon, sausages, fried or scrambled eggs, baked beans, toast and orange juice were served on only three round plastic tables, in the rain without the benefit of any hotel comforts.
Jo wishes to thank her helpers – Vic, Cath, Pam, Audrey, Barry, Kath, Maureen and superlative dishwasher Eric for calmly working in these primitive surroundings, and also the 54 members and friends who ate quickly, made no negative comments and wisely retired out of the rain to a neighbouring bar for coffee and tea afterwards.
This event raised a wonderful 170.18 Euros – showing how wonderful Coin Branch members are when faced with adversity!
Paddy’s Peppers: The Effort continued at our first meeting at the International Bar in El Rodeo. Through the sale of Paddy’s donation of red and green sweet peppers a further 20.16 Euros was raised, although this was augmented by some appropriate Chairman’s fines for various sins committed by a few members.
